Academic Excellence
To be eligible for the Goldwater Scholarship, applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrate strong academic performance in their chosen STEM field. Particular emphasis is placed on coursework in mathematics, science, and engineering.
Research Experience
Applicants should have a proven track record of research engagement. This can include involvement in research projects under the guidance of a mentor, participation in scientific competitions, or independent research initiatives.
Commitment to STEM
Goldwater scholars are passionate about advancing their STEM knowledge and pursuing careers in scientific research or teaching. Applicants must articulate their aspirations and demonstrate a commitment to making significant contributions to their field.
